Yesterday, God tipped me a wink.
I’d reached a point where I was feeling a little despondent–not terrible, but a little frustrated. Due to some changes in my life earlier this year, I believed it would be awhile before certain opportunities came my way again. I’d mourned, and accepted that I’m in a space of waiting for now. Then yesterday, a friend reached out with an opportunity for me at the end of next month, and I just felt God look down from heaven and wink.
We know that God doesn’t forget us. We are engraved on the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16); we are His sons and daughters through Jesus (Galatians 3:26). We have the very Spirit of God dwelling inside us (1 Corinthians 6:19). He is closer than the air we breathe.
But in spite of all of that, we go through desert seasons where God feels silent, like He has us in the back of the line and we can do nothing but just wait until He decides to call us forward.
That’s where I was.
A season finished. Doors closed. Waiting for whatever might bud next.
I’ve been through enough of these kinds of seasons to know that eventually, when the timing is right, new life will begin to grow again. I have seen it before and have faith that it will happen again. It’s all a matter of being patient through the waiting period.
God never forgets us. His ways are higher than our ways and His timing is not our timing (Isaiah 55:8-11) but He is always at work behind the scenes for our good, even when we can’t see what’s going on.
There may be waiting.
There may be silence and the feeling that life is passing by without anything happening.
But rest assured, He will tip you a wink when you’ve about given up, because He never gives up on you. Movement will come when the time is right, and suddenly you’ll see the new path that’s unfolding.
Don’t give up. Keep your eyes looking for His.
Blessings,
~Lynne
