I think May is actually my least favorite month in the calendar year.
That’s a strong statement to be sure, but we’re only 8 days in and I’m already over it. Monday morning alone I had emails and text messages from different people wanting my time to help with this and that. As one person who can only be in one place at one time, that means I can only say yes to one request and no to all the others. Someone will inevitably get their nose out of joint.
This is the month when it would be nice to clone myself and meet all the needs. While it is unfair that someone takes their displeasure at being told “no” out on me, frustration is part of the human condition.
It’s hard to do, but really what I need for survival this season is to breathe.

I learned somewhere that Yahweh, one of the names of God given to Moses (Exodus 3), sounds like the air in our lungs moving in and out–in the original Hebrew (without the vowels we added), it’s spelled YHWH.
YH — breathe in
WH — breathe out

We know from Genesis 2:7 that God formed man from the dust and breathed the breath of life into his nostrils. That same Spirit wind gave breath to the army of dry bones in Ezekiel 37 and it’s the same breath we still breathe.
My goal this month is to make sure to find even just a little space regularly to breathe. It’s not going to be easy. I may even have to briefly hide away or go AWOL for a few minutes. But intentionally breathing can help regulate our body rhythms. We can slow down our pace and flyaway thoughts by breathing in and out slowly and deeply.

Deep breath in.
Deep breath out.
Slow down and refocus. We’re gonna make it.
Blessings,
~Lynne
