"God is not human, that He should lie,
not a human being, that He should change His mind
Does He speak and then not act?
Does He promise and not fulfill?"
~Numbers 23:19 (NIV)

Since 2018 when I began walking in the idea that God was calling to ministry, I have faced many obstacles along the way–stress, health issues, seasons where the words and inspiration seem to dry up and disappear. Not all those obstacles have been bad things (becoming a mother has been an amazing yet also challenging season that constantly changes) but they can still distract from the main purpose: walking every day and treating every moment like I am doing God’s work.
In those dry and desert seasons of life, it can be easy to lose focus and allow the enemy to creep in and begin whispering deceitful thoughts in the back of your mind. I myself have been guilty of allowing such things to happen.
But as the passage in Numbers quoted above states, God does not change His mind. Once He decrees something to happen, it WILL happen. No force on earth or in Heaven can persuade Him to change His mind. He never makes a promise that He won’t keep.

The problem is us. Especially in today’s fast paced world, we want answers now. We want to see the results immediately, or yesterday if possible. But God’s timing is not our timing.
- Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV): “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.’”
- 2 Peter 3:8-9 (NIV): “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
No matter the situation you find yourself in today, God’s timing is perfect. He has a higher, heavenly perspective that sees more than we can understand on our human plane.
So if you find yourself in that desert season where you begin to doubt, remember those passages above. The Lord will not speak a thing into being and then not follow through. He will always, always keep His promises.

Keep on keepin’ on.
Blessings,
~Lynne
