Psalm 68:19 NIV: “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”
I read a Psalm every night before bed as part of my personal nighttime routine. Last night was Psalm 68, and I had this verse highlighted from another read-through. Some nights I am exhausted and the words I read just feel like they’re bouncing off my brain. So I grab on to anything that sticks, anything that encourages me even a little bit. Last night was this verse, and little did I know that I would need it this desperately after a night where little man was up at 10:30pm, 2:30am, and 6am. And had difficulty settling back down to sleep after the first two wake ups. (6am is too late to put him back to sleep unfortunately.)
Today my coffee is not strong enough. My brain feels foggy and some interactions have me struggling to hold it all together. But I can come back to this verse and find some hope: God daily bears my burdens.
Daily. He shoulders the struggles right beside me every day. When I am running on little sleep and my brain is foggy, He’s in the trenches with me, giving me the strength to keep on going because I’m needed to keep showing up.
He’s worthy of my praise through the tired and the frustration. He’s worthy of my praise as I sip my coffee and stare at the computer screen, willing the words to come out of the fog. He’s worthy of my praise because He is good, all the time, and He’s strong enough when I am not.
Praise Him.
Blessings,
~Lynne
