Wednesday Word: Small Beginnings are Good Too

•

Yesterday was the start of a brand new school year for me and my colleagues!

We have had a good start, minus for me the migraine that put me down last night. It’s always good to finally put things in motion. Waiting on the edge of a new beginning is always hard.

I love that every calendar year is full of mini new-years. I love that January 1 isn’t the only New Year to be celebrated, although the rest of them have to be celebrated intentionally.

Zechariah 4:10 includes this phrase in the Message translation: “Does anyone dare despise this day of small beginnings? “

A new school year is a new beginning, just like a birthday or an anniversary. While the typical celebration for “new beginnings” is the New Year, small beginnings are just as important as a new calendar year–if not more so!

Often, what we need to shift out of a season or a funk is a new beginning. The opening of something new can jar our brains out of the rut we’ve been traversing. Change isn’t always easy for everyone, but we’re supposed to change, and celebrating along the way will make change go down easier.

It might just be a random Wednesday in August, but fall is around the corner. Maybe that will be the new beginning you need to break out of your funk. No matter what is ahead, I invite you to mark a new beginning on your calendar and turn the page into something new. It might just revitalize you and give you the courage to face a new day.

God has something good in store for you, even when you can’t see it. Be patient, trust Him, and mark the small beginnings, because one of those might be the change that catapults you into the place you are meant to be.

Blessings,

~Lynne
